Serial is getting a pro-Adnan Syed spin-off

Serial addicts rejoice — but only if you think Adnan Syed is innocent. The podcast that took true-crime lovers by storm last fall is getting a spin-off, but it's funded by the Adnan Syed Legal Trust and backed by Serial guests Rabia Chaudry (who brought the case to the attention of the original show's creator, NPR's Sarah Koenig) and lawyer Susan Simpson, in addition to lawyer Colin Miller. Koenig is not involved in the project.
The podcast, titled Undisclosed: The State v. Adnan Syed, will premiere on April 13 and promises to look at the case "from an investigatory perspective instead of a narrative one." Episodes will be released biweekly. Syed and his legal team had previously filed a motion to appeal the case, which was granted by the Maryland Court of Special Appeals in February.
