On the Philippine island of Palawan, residents are being asked to turn off as many electrical appliances as possible on Sunday so everyone can tune in to the fight between local hero Manny Pacquiao and Floyd Mayweather.

The island is hit by power shortages daily, and on Facebook, Rante Ramos, secretary of the electrical co-operative, said if people unplugged their air conditioners, washing machines, and refrigerators during the match, no one would have to miss watching "the fight of the century." Because of Pacquiao's popularity in his home country, the match is expected to draw an enormous audience in the Philippines.
