In case you missed it, the U.S. women's soccer team won its World Cup opener on Monday night, shaking off a slow start to beat Australia, 3-1.
Were it not for the title of a post that subsequently showed up on Australia's official team website, though, you might have thought the Westfield Matildas were the victors. Bullet Point One, penned by "Staff Writer," reads as follows: "The USA, well, they just aren't that good."
The constructive criticism gone awry continues by declaring the American team's play "rudimentary," and noting that "'Play it long and look for the head of Wambach' seems the default game-plan for a team stuck in the past."
