The dream of the '90s was alive on Late Night. Not only did Winona Ryder make a date with Fred Armisen to appear on Portlandia — to Seth Meyers' half-joking annoyance — but she also confirmed that there is going to be a sequel to Beetlejuice, with original director Tim Burton on board (no word about Michael Keaton). Well, she mostly affirmed the rumors. "I think I can confirm it," Ryder told Meyers, based on an interview Burton gave while promoting his latest film, Big Eyes. It was all hush-hush, she said, until, on camera, "he said 'Oh, yeah, we're doing it! And Winona's going to be in it'.... But I really don't know more than anyone else."
Ryder also said that little kids still love the original Beetlejuice, and that an unexpected, slightly discomfiting group of people makes her say "Beetlejuice" three times before she can pass. Let's hope her next plane ride goes smoothly. Peter Weber
