Hillary Clinton: I oppose the Keystone XL Pipeline

After months of refusing to declare her stance on the controversial construction of the Keystone XL Pipeline — which is opposed by environmentalists and backed by business interests and labor unions — Democratic presidential frontrunner Hillary Clinton came out against the project during a campaign stop in Iowa.
"I think it is imperative that we look at the Keystone XL pipeline as what I believe it is: A distraction from the important work we have to do to combat climate change... and one that interferes with our ability to move forward and deal with other issues," Clinton said. "Therefore, I oppose it."
Clinton had previously cited her position as President Obama's secretary of state as the reason she had delayed officially weighing in on the issue.
