1 shot dead on Tennessee State campus, 3 wounded, after dice-game argument
Early Friday, Nashville police said that one man was killed and three female bystanders were wounded in a shooting on the Tennessee State University campus Thursday night. The incident started when two young men — not students, the university said — got in an argument over a game of dice, according to Metropolitan Nashville Police spokesman Don Aaron. The three wounded women are students, and two of them were treated in the hospital, with the third suffering only superficial injuries. The victim was 19, Aaron said, and the assailant fled on foot.
The police called this an isolated incident. Last week, three people were also wounded by gunfire near the Tennessee State campus, during a large house party, Reuters notes, and this is at least the fourth fatal shooting incident on a U.S. college campus in October, including the mass shooting in Roseburg, Oregon.
