Jon Stewart crashes Colbert's Late Show, apes Trump to push Congress on 9/11 responders bill
Jon Stewart returned to The Daily Show earlier this week to badger Congress into reauthorizing the James L. Zadroga 9/11 Health & Compensation Act, and since Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) hasn't put the bill up to a vote, as he had apparently promised first responders, Stewart turned from basic cable to network TV. Jimmy Kimmel promoted the issue on Thursday's Jimmy Kimmel Live, and Stewart himself crashed Stephen Colbert's monologue at The Late Show to make his case. Colbert had been joking about Donald Trump — it features footage of Trump being attacked by a bald eagle — and he had some advice for Stewart, and also some visual aids.
"Nobody's going to pay attention to you unless you — I don't know how to put this — Trump it up a little bit," Colbert said. "Face it, Jon, the media won't pay attention to anything, it won't pay attention to anything at all, unless you are Donald Trump." Stewart was hesitant, but he will apparently do anything to help sick police officers, firefighters, and other first responders who rushed to Ground Zero in 2001, and after a little coaxing, he really got into the act.
