Marco Rubio recommends Bernie Sanders run for 'president of Sweden'
When asked during the Fox News Republican debate why he isn't polling higher in his state, Florida Sen. Marco Rubio instead told the audience in Iowa the candidate he doesn't want to see win Monday's caucus.
"You will be the first Americans to answer the fundamental question: What comes next to this country after seven disastrous years of Barack Obama," he said. "And let me tell you what the answer better not be — Bernie Sanders. Bernie Sanders is a socialist. I think Bernie Sanders is a good candidate — for president of Sweden. We don't want to be Sweden, we want to be the United States of America." Sanders, in fact, isn't a good candidate for president of Sweden, because the country is a constitutional monarchy and has a prime minister.
Moderator Bret Baier also referred to a previous Time magazine cover story that declared Rubio the "Republican savior," and Rubio said he took issue with the term. "Let me be clear about one thing: There's only one savior, and it's not me," he said. "It's Jesus Christ, who came down to Earth and died for our sins. I've always made it clear about that cover story."
