John Kasich won't be in South Carolina for the South Carolina primary

John Kasich plans to be states away from South Carolina when the votes roll in for its Republican presidential primary Saturday night. Rather than spending his day campaigning in the Palmetto State ahead of the primary, the Ohio governor instead plans to be up north in Boston, Massachusetts, The Boston Globe reported Wednesday.
Kasich reportedly will hold a town hall meeting in Worcester, Massachusetts Saturday afternoon and then attend a "high-dollar" fundraiser in Boston's Back Bay, likely in the hopes of turning his second-place finish in last week's New Hampshire primary into some campaign cash, The Boston Globe reports.
While the hype around South Carolina is reaching a fever pitch, it's not too surprising that Kasich isn't focusing his attention there. The Ohio governor himself has admitted that his chances of winning South Carolina aren't very good — he's polling in fifth place in the state — though he has spent every day there so far this week.
