Stephen Colbert spends Super Tuesday talking Hillary's terrorist cat, Rubio's insult comedy
Tuesday's Late Show taped before any of the Super Tuesday contests were decided, so Stephen Colbert's "Road to the White House" segment focused on the road to Super Tuesday. It was paved with silliness. Colbert started out with a tip to Politico about another brewing Clinton scandal. "That's right, Hillary Clinton's childhood cat was named Isis," he said. "This is the most shocking political pet news since Jimmy Carter revealed his childhood cat's name was Ayatollah Catmenei." Politico isn't saying Clinton presciently named her cat after the Islamic State, "but it makes sense, if you don't think about it," Colbert said. "Cats have a lot in common with ISIS: They're both ruthless killers who poop in the sand."
Colbert spent the last part of the segment discussing the increasingly bitter brawl on the Republican side, especially Marco Rubio's adoption of insult comedy to attack Donald Trump. "This could work," he said, not meaning it. "Insult comedy is a time-honored political strategy," making up a yo-mamma joke Abraham Lincoln never told. Watch below. Peter Weber
