Chipotle's norovirus problem isn't over yet
Just weeks after the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention declared Chipotle E. coli free, the restaurant chain is once again facing store closures over health issues. A Boston-area Chipotle store in Billerica, Massachusetts closed for a second day Wednesday after four employees were diagnosed with norovirus, MarketWatch reports.
The Massachusetts closure has prompted Chipotle's stock to resume its downward slide, with shares of the restaurant down 2.9 percent Wednesday after rebounding 30 percent from mid-January. This marks the second Boston-area store to close down due to health issues. A norovirus outbreak at another Boston location in December left 140 people sick, adding to the E. Coli outbreaks last year that left 60 people across 14 states ill.
There have been no reports of sick customers in this particular outbreak. A Chipotle spokesperson says the store will be fully sanitized before reopening.
