The Belgian capital was rocked by explosions at major transportation hubs early Tuesday morning, leaving as many as 34 people dead in attacks across Brussels. One of the explosions occurred at the Maelbeek metro station, which prompted authorities to shut down the city's entire metro, tram, and bus systems.
EurActiv's Evan Lamos was on a train traveling from the Arts-Loi metro station to the Maelbeek station when the train suddenly stopped, and a recording over the train's PA system reported an "incident on the line". Lamos then live-tweeted his experience as the scene unfolded:
While Lamos wrote that he was at Schuman station in a few of the early tweets, he later corrected himself to say he and his fellow passengers were actually evacuated at Arts-Loi station. Read his entire account of the incident here.
