Five people were killed Monday when their plane, used for skydiving tours, crashed at an airport on Kauai.
Federal Aviation Administration spokesman Ian Gregor said the plane, a single-engine Cessna 182H, crashed at 9:30 a.m. while taking off from Port Allen Airport in Hanapepe; after it crashed, the plane caught fire. Four people were pronounced dead at the scene, and one man was taken to a local hospital, where he died. Kauai Fire Department officials said it's believed the pilot was accompanied by two skydiving instructors and two tandem jumpers. The crash will be investigated by the National Transportation Safety Board.
