Clinton reportedly eyeing retired Navy admiral for VP
Hillary Clinton's campaign is looking into the possibility of retired Navy admiral James G. Stavridis serving as her running mate, according to a source with knowledge of the situation who spoke with The New York Times. Stavridis served as the 16th supreme allied commander of NATO, where he oversaw Middle Eastern, Balkan, and African coast operations.
The Clinton campaign declined to talk about Stavridis, and Stavridis himself referred The New York Times back to the campaign. Sources close to Clinton commented, though, that it was always likely she would look at someone with a military background for her VP shortlist.
The Times notes a possible black mark against Stavridis: an incident in 2012 when he was investigated for improperly using a military aircraft to fly his wife to an exclusive wine party in Burgundy. He was eventually cleared of misconduct on the grounds of bookkeeping errors after a Pentagon investigation into his travel expenses.

Donald Trump has also looked into a retired military official as a running mate, in particular Lt. Gen. Michael Flynn; many believe Trump is juggling Flynn with Indiana Gov. Mike Pence and former House Speaker Newt Gingrich.
