No one ever said this election was going to be normal. And indeed, normal it is not: Hillary Clinton is threatening to overtake Donald Trump in the practically perennial red state of Missouri. The new poll by Public Policy Polling shows Trump with only a 3-point lead over Clinton, and while Trump is preferred by 45 percent of Missourians, and Clinton by 42 percent, a whole 13 percent of voters said they are still undecided. But it's not looking so great for Trump: Only last month, Clinton trailed Trump in the state by 10 points, The Hill reports.
Missouri was last blue in 1992 and 1996 — incidentally, those were years they happened to be voting a different Clinton into the White House.
The PPP poll was conducted over Aug. 8 and 9, reaching 947 likely voters in Missouri. Other recent polls have shown Trump's lead as slightly wider, or slightly narrower, in the state.
