A 74-year-old woman backing out of a parking spot accidentally hit the gas pedal instead of the brake Sunday night in Ohio, hitting a crowd of people at an outdoor concert, police in Parma Heights said.
The unidentified woman had just left a Frank Sinatra and Dean Martin tribute concert when the incident occurred, The Associated Press reports. Nine were injured, two seriously, when the woman drove onto a dance floor then hit a telephone pole, Det. Sgt. Steve Scharschmidt said. The victims are believed to be in their 50s, 60s, and 70s, police said. Some were treated at the scene, while others have been hospitalized. An investigation is ongoing and so far no charges have been filed against the woman.
