On Sunday night, two missiles were fired from territory held by Houthi rebels in Yemen in the direction of an American destroyer, the U.S. Navy announced.

The missiles landed in the water of the Persian Gulf, a Navy spokesman said, and while they were fired in the direction of the USS Mason, Lt. Ian McConnaughey said it's unclear if the ship was the specific target. Several days ago, a ship from the United Arab Emirates was targeted by missiles, also apparently fired by the Houthis and their allies, The Associated Press reports, and a ballistic missile was launched from Yemen, most likely in an attempt to strike an air base in Saudi Arabia near Mecca.
