Rep. Darrell Issa bizarrely claims he would have been a campaign adviser to Hillary Clinton
Days away from the election, Rep. Darrell Issa (R-Calif.) suddenly seems eager to embrace bipartisanship. In an interview with Politico published Monday, Issa, who serves as a national security adviser to Donald Trump's campaign, claimed that he would've been just as happy to step in as an adviser for Hillary Clinton's campaign if she'd asked him to. "I would've said the same thing if Hillary Clinton's people had called me the same day. Why wouldn't you?" said Issa, who is fighting to hang onto his seat in a tight race for reelection.
Though it may have gotten lost in Issa's claims that Obama is "one of the most corrupt presidents in modern time," Issa insisted there's always been "a partisan side and a nonpartisan side" to him." "I've never changed," he said.
Last week, Issa sent out a mailer featuring a picture of Obama sitting in the Oval Office, boasting about how "pleased" he is that they passed a law together to "protect the victims of sexual assault." The mailer came after Issa openly called for Obama's impeachment and questioned if the president was really born in the U.S. Obama called Issa's sudden change of heart about him "the definition of chutzpah."
