Nordstrom is hoping that while its new concept store won't have any inventory, its very specific service will be enough to entice shoppers.
Nordstrom Local stores will have personal stylists on hand to work one-on-one with customers looking for clothes, shoes, and accessories, which will then be ordered by the stylist. Shoppers will also be able to order items online from inside the store and pick up online orders made from home, and manicure and tailoring services will be available.
The first Nordstrom Local will open in Los Angeles this October, at just 3,000 square feet (the average store covers 140,000 square feet). The company thinks the concept is a winner, with Senior Vice President Shea Jensen telling The Associated Press this lets Nordstrom offer its "best services in a convenient location."
