Jemele Hill to reportedly leave SportsCenter
Jemele Hill is reportedly leaving ESPN's SportsCenter, where she hosts the 6 p.m. hour with Michael Smith, The Hollywood Reporter writes. Her last day is scheduled for Feb. 2, just two days before the Super Bowl. Smith will continue to host the program solo.
Hill is not leaving ESPN altogether, though, and will continue to write for the ESPN-owned website The Undefeated as well as host town halls. A person familiar with the situation told CNN Money that the move is Hill's choice.
Last fall, the White House called for Hill's ousting after she called President Trump a "white supremacist" in a tweet. She was later suspended from SportsCenter after responding to the news that Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones told players they would be benched if they kneeled during the national anthem. She controversially tweeted on Oct. 8 and 9 that "change happens when advertisers are impacted" and urged a "boycott."
