Male victim files lawsuit against U.S. gymnastics doctor Larry Nassar

Gymnast Jacob Moore has become the first male athlete to file a lawsuit against former U.S. team doctor Larry Nassar, the New York Daily News reports. To date, more than 200 women have accused Nassar of sexually abusing his patients; he was effectively sentenced to life in prison in January.

Nassar reportedly began abusing Moore in 2016, when the gymnast was 16, International Gymnast Magazine reports. Moore was suffering from shoulder pain when he saw Nassar: "The lawsuit alleges that the doctor administered acupuncture to the teenager's 'pubic area and in and around his genitalia ostensibly for the purpose of treating his shoulder pain,'" writes International Gymnast Magazine.

Moore's older sister, Kamerin Moore, delivered her own victim impact statement against Nassar in January, in which she alleged her brother had been abused too. Jacob joined Kamerin Moore as a plaintiff in an amended lawsuit filed Wednesday.

Separately, Olympic gold medalist Aly Raisman filed a lawsuit against the U.S. Olympic Committee and USA Gymnastics this week for the handling of the Nassar case, ABC News reports. In it, she claims the USOC was "aware, at the highest levels of its organization, that Defendant Nassar had molested Olympic and National Team level gymnasts."
