Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg will testify before the House Oversight Committee next Wednesday, April 11, Reps. Greg Walden (R-Ore.) and Frank Pallone (D-N.J.) have announced. Zuckerberg has been under intense scrutiny after a whistleblower stepped forward to reveal that Cambridge Analytica, a data firm with ties to President Trump's 2016 campaign team, allegedly accessed private information from 50 million Facebook users without permission.
Zuckerberg had seemingly dragged his feet on testifying, ultimately saying he was "open to" the idea last month. Walden and Pallone emphasized that the hearing is "an important opportunity to shed light on critical consumer data privacy issues and help all Americans better understand what happens to their personal information online," Time reports.
