Google Maps has already renamed the Russell Senate offices after John McCain

A proposal to rename the Russell Senate Office Building after the late Sen. John McCain is stalling. But if you ask Google, it's already done.
After the GOP giant died Saturday a year after being diagnosed with brain cancer, Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-N.Y.) proposed stripping the name of Richard Russell — a former Democratic senator and segregationist — off the Senate building and replacing it with McCain's. Senate Republicans have slowed the effort, but by Wednesday morning Google Maps had already made the change, directing people to the McCain Senate Office Building:
Clicking McCain's label previously brought up the building's details under the McCain name. But the pin has since been restored to redirect to the Russell building, so it appears Google is aware of the mix-up.

Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) notably neglected to endorse Schumer's proposal and instead formed what he calls a "gang" to ensure a "suitable, lasting tribute" to McCain, NPR reported Tuesday. Sen. David Perdue (R-Ga.) also rejected Schumer's move, saying it's "somewhat troubling" Russell would lose his revered spot "because of one issue," he told The Atlanta Journal-Constitution. That "one issue" would be Russell's consistent support of racial segregation and opposition to civil rights over his 40 years in the Senate.
