Trump condemns acts of political violence, says 'we have to unify'

President Trump is calling for unity after multiple suspicious devices were mailed to Democratic politicians and CNN.
At the beginning of a previously scheduled event Wednesday, the president said that "we have to unify" and that "acts or threats of political violence of any kind have no place in the United States." An investigation is currently underway to determine who sent the packages, Trump said, and those responsible for "these despicable acts" will be brought to justice. "This egregious conduct is abhorrent to everything we hold dear and sacred as Americans," he said.
Earlier in the day, the Secret Service reported that suspicious packages were addressed to former President Barack Obama and former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton. A suspicious package addressed to Attorney General Eric Holder arrived at Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz's (D-Fla.) office, police intercepted a package sent to Rep. Maxine Waters (D-Calif.), and CNN evacuated its New York office due to a package containing an explosive device.

Trump did not mention CNN during his remarks but referenced packages sent to "current and former high-ranking government officials." White House Press Secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders previously mentioned CNN while condemning the attacks. Watch Trump's "bipartisan statement" below. Brendan Morrow
