Rosario Dawson joins the Zombieland sequel

The long-awaited sequel to Zombieland has just added a new cast member and received a title.
Rosario Dawson has signed on to star in the upcoming sequel to the 2009 zombie comedy from Ruben Fleischer, according to The Hollywood Reporter. There's no word yet on who Dawson will play, but she joins a star-studded cast that includes returning actors Jesse Eisenberg, Emma Stone, Woody Harrelson, and Abigail Breslin.
Almost immediately after Dawson's casting was reported, the movie's official Twitter page seemed to reveal the sequel's title: Double Tap, a reference to a survival rule championed by Eisenberg's character, that one must always shoot a zombie a second time to ensure it's really dead. The Double Tap title was revealed as part of a photo featuring the sequel's cast recreating the original movie's poster, #10YearChallenge style.

There had been talk of a sequel to Zombieland, which grossed $102 million in 2009, for years, but it was confirmed to be officially on the way last summer. At the time, the Reporter noted that the gang in the follow-up would encounter some "new human survivors," so it seems likely Dawson will be one of them. Fleischer will return to direct, and the original movie's co-writers, Paul Wernick and Rhett Reese, will pen the script. Double Tap will be released on Oct. 11.
