Former New York congressman Anthony Weiner has officially been released from custody.

Weiner, who in 2017 was sentenced to 21 months in prison after pleading guilty to transferring obscene material to a minor, was released from a Bronx halfway house on Tuesday, saying, "It's good to be out," CNN reports. "I hope to be able to live a life of integrity and service. I'm glad this chapter of my life is behind me." He also said that he hopes to "get back to my family and make up for some lost time," Fox News reports.

Weiner's sentence was originally scheduled to end in August, but he was given an early release due to good behavior. He was released from federal prison in February and spent the past three months at a halfway house.

After resigning from Congress in 2011 following revelations that he sent inappropriate photos to numerous women, Weiner faced charges in 2017 for having explicit online contact with an underage girl. The former congressman said upon pleading guilty that "this crime was my rock bottom" and that he was a "very sick man for a very long time," USA Today reports.

Weiner was previously ordered to register as a level one sex offender for at least 20 years. He will also remain under court supervision for three years.
