Ferrari Roma 2020: official images, plus specs, price and release
Italian marque takes on Aston Martin and Mercedes-AMG with its fifth new model of the year
Ferrari has added an all-new coupe to its line-up which aims to rival V8-engined grand tourers such as the Aston Martin V8 Vantage and Mercedes-AMG GT.
The Ferrari Roma, revealed in full yesterday evening, will become the company’s new entry-level hard-top model, sitting above the drop-top Portofino and below the mid-engined F8 Tributo.
The supercar firm touts the Roma as “an icon of Italian design,” which takes inspiration from “the carefree” and “pleasurable” lifestyle that “characterised Rome in the 1950s and 60s.”

It’s the Italian marque’s fifth new model of 2019, marking an unusually busy year for the company.
Ferrari kicked off the year with its new F8 Tributo, which was followed by a drop-top Spider variant in September. The convertible 812 GTS also debuted in 2019, as has the SF90 Stradale hybrid hypercar.
Here’s everything we know about the new Roma:
Design and interior
The Roma “looks quite unlike anything else in the Ferrari line-up”, boasting a design that harks back to classic Italian sports cars from the 1950s and 60s, Auto Express says.
The car sports a particularly low nose and new grille design, above which sits a long bonnet that covers the eight-cylinder engine. The front bumper comes with ultra-thin LED headlights, while a set of four tail lights sit either side of the slim boot spoiler at the back.
Ferrari has done away with the complex aerodynamic features of its recent cars, instead opting for sleek panels down the car’s flanks and sculpted wheel arches on all four corners of the vehicle.
On the inside, the Roma gets “further evolutions” of the instrument cluster and steering wheel that debuted in the SF90 Stradale hypercar, says Evo. The cabin itself “boasts a focus on space” and luxury, instead of the “exposed carbon fibre” that appears on the marque’s sportier models.
While Ferrari has yet to confirm whether the grand tourer has a two or four-seat layout, it refers to the car as a “2+” coupe - suggesting there’s room in the back for passengers.
Engine and performance
The Roma is powered by a tweaked version of the company’s 3.9-litre turbocharged V8 engine, which can also be found in the Portofino and “elsewhere in Ferrari's line-up,” notes Autocar. In the Roma, the engine delivers 612bhp and 591lb-ft of torque.
Coupled to the engine is the same eight-speed dual-clutch gearbox that can be found in the SF90 Stradale, sending power to the rear wheels for a 0-62mph time of 3.4 seconds, the motoring magazine adds. Keep your foot to the floor and the Roma will go all the way to a top speed of 199mph.
Price and release
According to Autocar, the Roma will cost “around £175,000” when it arrives in showrooms next summer.
