On Thursday, Britain narrowed down its picks for the next prime minister to two finalists — both of whom are women. Conservative Party members voted for either Home Secretary Theresa May or Energy Minister Andrea Leadsom to succeed current Prime Minister David Cameron, who announced his resignation following the historic Brexit vote last month. Justice Secretary Michael Gove was eliminated from the running after he won just 46 votes to May's 199 votes and Leadsom's 84 votes.
This will mark just the second time the U.K. will have a woman serve as prime minister; Margaret Thatcher, who served as prime minister from 1979 to 1990, was the first. The winner will be decided on Sept. 9 in another vote by Conservative Party members.
