Despite rumors he might be tapped for the role of health secretary or even secretary of state, former House Speaker Newt Gingrich said Thursday he will not be in President-elect Donald Trump's Cabinet. Instead, Gingrich told McClatchy DC, he will "be focused on strategic planning" and working to grow "the GOP victories nationwide ahead of the coming 2018 midterm elections."

Gingrich, who served in Congress for nearly two decades, did not say whether the decision to sit out Trump's administration was made by him or Trump.
