London Fashion Week 2015 – in pictures

Following on from New York Fashion Week, Saturday saw the official launch of London Fashion Week. The second of the "big four" fashion weeks, LFW gives industry pros and dedicated followers of fashion alike a chance to preview the hottest styles for spring 2016.

This year, Topshop, Burberry and Vivienne Westwood are among the 78 designers giving the world a look at their upcoming collections.

Described by the Evening Standard as "a major pull for the capital's bright young things", the Topshop show at LFW this year was as highly anticipated as anything from the top-tier international fashion houses. Vogue editor and fashion maven Anna Wintour, Topshop chief Sir Philip Green and veteran trendsetter Alexa Chung were among those in the front row for the 1980s-inspired show. To the strains of The Style Council, models walked the catwalk sporting belted blazers, chunky earrings and leopard print blouses.

Kate Moss, Cara Delevingne and Benedict Cumberbatch were among the celebrities to snag a ticket to the perennially popular Burberry show. Under the aegis of chief creative officer Christopher Bailey, the iconic British brand did not disappoint. The Daily Mail described the spring/summer 2016 collection as "a springtime spin on the classics".

Also pushing the boat out was Louis Vuitton, whose multi-room "immersive" exhibition alongside Somerset House explored the creative inspiration behind its autumn/winter collection.

According to British Fashion Council statistics, 5,000 fashion insiders, buyers and journalists are set to attend the 52 catwalk shows scheduled for this week. The BFC have gathered data on every aspect of the event – including the unusual fact that over 200kg of soya yogurt will be consumed during the week.
