The highly technical worlds of motoring and horology have long sat hand in hand, but future-minded watchmaker Richard Mille is a more natural fit than most, as its recent announcements of high-profile partnerships testify.
A long-term collaboration with Aston Martin will see the brand support the racing team in the FIA World Endurance Championship, LeMans 24 Hours and Nürburgring 24 Hours. But perhaps most excitingly for fans of both, Richard Mille’s watchmakers will work with the Aston Martin design team, led by chief creative officer Marek Reichman, on a new collection of exclusive watches.
Elsewhere, Richard Mille continues its association with Formula 1, not only through its sponsorship of the Haas F1 team, which makes its debut this season, but with a new 10-year deal with regulars McLaren-Honda. Expect to see its innovative timepieces on the wrists of the team’s world-champion drivers Fernando Alonso and Jenson Button, as well as the development of a new series of watch calibres to come.

It is a move that perfectly demonstrates the synergy between the two brands. ‘For me, the association with McLaren is so striking because I still vividly remember, back in 1981, when McLaren was the first constructor to introduce an all-carbon fibre monocoque to F1,’ explained chairman and CEO Richard Mille. ‘It was a technology that would revolutionise the sport – and still does to this day. Years later, I was able to adopt the same technical solution – a carbon fibre structure – for the baseplates of our watch movements and cases.’
