Russian 'Batman' hunts down drug lords and rapists
Self-declared superhero dresses up to 'root out evil that police can't reach' - and other tall tales
Our pick of the strange stories from around the world.
Meet Reaper – the Caped Crusader of Moscow
A vigilante who dresses like Batman and calls himself "Reaper" has reportedly declared war on drug lords, rapists and crime gangs in Moscow. Grainy video footage shows the would-be superhero emerging from a drug den, dropping a small firebomb on the footpath and then striding off into the night. In a letter sent to a local newspaper, Reaper says: "I don't kill or cripple, and I am not against the police or authorities, but I do root out the evil that police and the authorities can't reach." Woman jailed for 'loud sex'
A woman has been jailed for at least 45 days for having sex so loudly that it "shook her neighbours' furniture" before threatening them when they complained. Amanda Marie Warfel, 25, of Pennsylvania, who has been in jail since 22 March, also pleaded guilty to disorderly conduct and harassment charges. Neighbours say they had reported the noise for more than two years before the police finally took action and arrested Warfel.
Escaped prisoner stops for a beer and turns himself in
A man on the run for more than a week has turned himself in to police in Arkansas, after stopping at a local bar for a meal and a beer. Police say 45-year-old Shaun Higham spent eight days on the run after picking a lock at Logan County Jail and escaping. The owner of the bar said Higham, wearing a dirty prison uniform and covered in insect bites, ordered a meal and a beer before asking for the police to be rung to pick him up.
