Terry Boot replaces Peter Foot at Shoe Zone
And other stories from the stranger side of life

High street retailer Shoe Zone has announced its new finance boss and he has a very fitting name: Terry Boot. Meteor lump found in Gloucestershire driveway
A 300-gram lump of a meteorite that lit up the night sky over the UK last week has been recovered from a driveway in Gloucestershire. The fragment was found after scientists reconstructed the flight path of the fireball that unleashed a sonic boom as it tore across the sky on the evening of 28 February. A scientist at the Natural History Museum said the find was a “dream come true”.

Boots sorry for sex toy ad
Boots have apologised for an “extremely inappropriate” advert that urged Facebook users to treat their mums to sex toys for Mother’s Day. The advert featured four colourful vibrators of various shapes and sizes below the slogan “for every kind of mum”. Following complaints, the pharmacy chain apologised for any “offence caused” and explained that a “technical error” meant two separate adverts were combined into one on the social network.
