1. End of an era for Aguero and Man City - will it be Barca next?

Manchester City’s record goalscorer Sergio Aguero will leave the club when his contract runs out at the end of the season.

The Argentine, who famously scored the injury-time winner against QPR to seal the Premier League title in 2012, has been with City for ten years and notched up 257 goals in 384 appearances. He will be honoured by a statue at the Etihad Stadium, alongside title-winning captain Vincent Kompany and playmaker David Silva.

Barcelona are favourites to sign the 32-year-old, the Manchester Evening News reports. But the Spanish giants will face competition from Paris Saint-Germain, Real Madrid and Juventus.

2. Salah hints at future move to Spain

Another Premier League striker who could one day play in La Liga is Liverpool’s Mohamed Salah.

The Egyptian has regularly been linked with Real Madrid and Barcelona in recent years and in an interview with Marca he was asked about possibly playing in Spain. “Why not?” said the 28-year-old. “No one knows what’s going to happen in the future, so... maybe one day, yes.”

Liverpool travel to Real Madrid for the Champions League quarter-final first leg on 6 April.

3. Murray considers career switch as golf caddie or football coach

British tennis star Andy Murray has revealed what he would like to do once his career on the court comes to an end.

Murray, 33, is a keen golfer so “being a caddie for example on the golf tour would be something I would find exciting”, he told The Gentlemen’s Journal. The three-time grand slam champion would also like to get his football coaching badges. “That would be fun to do,” he added.

4. Smith ‘keen’ to become Australia captain again

Three years after his ban for the infamous ball-tampering scandal in South Africa, Australian cricket star Steve Smith says he has “grown as a human being” and would be “interested” in becoming captain of the team once again.

As well as a 12-month suspension from international cricket, Smith was also banned for holding any leadership position with the national team for two years. However, he would be willing to step up if selectors want him to, the Australian Associated Press reports.

“I guess now I’ve got to a point where if the opportunity did come up again I would be keen,” Smith told News Corp. “If it was what Cricket Australia wanted and it was what was best for the team at the time, it’s certainly something I would be interested in.”

5. New Champions League format set to be agreed

European football’s governing body Uefa is expected to sign off proposals tomorrow for the new format of the Champions League. Under the new format, the current group phase will be scrapped and the number of teams would be increased from 32 to 36.

From 2024 the competition would see each team “play ten matches against opponents varying in strength”, with the results forming an overall league table, says the BBC. The top eight teams would then qualify for the knockout stages and the teams finishing in ninth to 24th would go into a play-off round.
