Mauro Icardi puts Chelsea, Arsenal and Man City on hold

Could Icardi breeze into the Premier League or might he stay loyal to Inter? Then there's Tottenham, who look to be on a winner with Wimmer, while Juan Mata is mulling over a move to Valencia. Or so they say.

• One of the most sought-after players in Europe has told his suitors they will have to be patient. Talksport reports that Arsenal, Manchester City and Chelsea have all set their hearts on Mauro Icardi but it seems the 22-year-old is in no rush to leave Inter Milan. Icardi, who has scored 15 goals in 26 Serie A appearances this season, is coveted by the trio of Premier League clubs but the Argentine says he is happy with life at the San Siro. "I still have three years of my contract left," he replied when asked by Italian magazine Calcio2000 if he was ready to move to England in the summer. "If I renew my contract with Inter then it could be even longer. If I do not renew, however, I still have three years of the contract."

• German media are reporting that Tottenham Hotpsur have "all but completed a transfer deal" for FC Koln's Austrian centre-back Kevin Wimmer. Picking up on the claims, Metro newspaper says that Spurs boss Mauricio Pochettino moved for the highly-rated 22-year-old Wimmer after concerns that £8 million summer signing Federico Fazio wasn't proving up to the job of bolstering the Spurs back-four. It's said that Wimmer recently "flew to England to negotiate terms" and all that remains to be agreed between the parties is the fee with Koln's sporting director Jorg Schmadtke thought to want in excess of £7m.

• Could Juan Mata be on his way back to Spain in the summer? Yes, claims the Daily Mirror with the paper saying that his former club Valencia could come in for 26-year-old Manchester United midfielder. It's believed Valencia owner Peter Lim and president Amadeo Salvo jetted in to Manchester last weekend, and "made it clear Mata" is a transfer target. United paid Chelsea £37m for Mata in January 2014, but since the arrival of Argentine ace Angel Di Maria the player has found game time increasingly hard to come by. As a result, says the Mirror, Valencia are hopeful of "thrashing out a deal" for a cut-price fee of around £20million which would entail Mata signing a four-year contract.
