Show of the week: Game Change
This dramatization of John McCain and Sarah Palin’s 2008 run for the White House stars Ed Harris and Julianne Moore.
Julianne Moore is no Tina Fey. In this entertaining dramatization of John McCain and Sarah Palin’s 2008 run for the nation’s top elected posts, Moore’s Palin is nuanced—by turns magnetic, brittle, bewildered, sullen, and vain. She has both great strengths (a common touch with crowds) and great weaknesses (a profound ignorance of foreign affairs). Ed Harris offers a convincing and sympathetic portrayal of McCain, while Woody Harrelson anchors the film as a campaign strategist who sowed the wind and reaped a whirlwind. Saturday, March 10, at 9 p.m., HBO
