Jerry Lewis displays a serious side in this intriguing 1959 TV remake of the Al Jolson classic, said the Newark, N.J., Star-Ledger. Shot in video, the movie looks awful here, but Lewis conveys both vulnerability and his “trademark wackiness” while playing a cantor’s son who chooses a life on stage.
