Engineering Evil

One of the great horrors of the Holocaust is that the Nazis’ extermination of 6 million European Jews and millions of others was a meticulously planned collaborative process. Using archival footage and highlighting such artifacts as the blueprint for a crematorium and propaganda aimed at non-Jewish children, this sobering film explores the mechanics of mass murder. Tuesday, Nov. 15, at 9 p.m., History

Saint Misbehavin’: The Wavy Gravy Movie

Known to many as the emcee of Woodstock, Hugh Romney (aka Wavy Gravy) is more than merely a living vestige of the hippie era and the namesake of a Ben & Jerry’s flavor. This award-winning film chronicles his long and colorful career—as an activist and as court jester of the counterculture. Thursday, Nov. 17, at 7:55 p.m., Showtime

Independent Lens: We Still Live Here—As Nutayunean

The language of the Wampanoag, the Massachusetts tribe that met 17th-century English settlers at Plymouth, was considered long lost when Cape Cod resident Jessie Little Doe had a dream in the early 1990s about her ancestors returning. This film follows her quest to accomplish an unprecedented feat: reviving a Native American language whose last native speaker had died generations ago.
