Jonathan Demme’s 1986 comedy wasn’t “conventional ’80s fare,” said The Boston Globe. Though the story “meanders” after an impulsive Melanie Griffith lures a staid Jeff Daniels into taking a road trip, its mood shifts are part of what make the Blu-ray edition worth a home screening.

Budrus

(Typecast Releasing, $25)

This “sometimes inspiring” documentary focuses on a recent nonviolent-protest movement that sprang up in a West Bank village, said The New York Times. Though we see Palestinians and Israelis initially finding common cause, the takeaway, unfortunately, is less uplifting.
