Flying Wild Alaska

This colorful docuseries spotlights the Twetos, a hardy family who run their own airline in remote Unalakleet, Alaska. In the season finale, as winter looms, the staff of Era Alaska contend with a bootlegger trying to smuggle illegal liquor, and a pilot races to rescue a missing snow-machiner before two months of darkness close in. Beast Hunter: Serpent of the North

In this new series, National Geographic follows young wildlife researcher Pat Spain as he emulates his famous uncle, Charles Fort, who investigated strange phenomena. This week takes Spain to British Columbia in search of North America’s answer to the Loch Ness monster: Cadborosaurus, a supposed sea serpent that hundreds have claimed to have seen. Ahead of Time

In 1931, 20-year-old Ruth Gruber became the world’s youngest Ph.D. She went on to become the first foreign correspondent to enter the Soviet Arctic. She also led a secret mission to bring Holocaust refugees to America, covered the Nuremberg trials, and took historic photos aboard the ship Exodus. In this documentary, the award-winning journalist, now 99, looks back at her adventurous life. Saturday, March 19, at 9:30 a.m., Showtime
