Will San Francisico ban the sale of household pets?
San Francisco is considering a ban on the sale of all household pets, including dogs, cats, birds, and hamsters. The city’s Commission of Animal Control and Welfare says animal shelters are full of pets purchased on a whim from pet stores, then abandoned. “That’s what we’d like to stop,” said chairwoman Sally Stephens. After a furor, she delayed a decision for a month.
