Son of adopted mother falls in love with biological grandmother
An Indiana man who tracked down his biological grandmother says he has fallen in love with her and that they plan to start a family. Phil Bailey, 26, says he’s “always been attracted to older women,” and that he loves Pearl Carter, 72—who gave birth to his mother and then gave her up for adoption—“with all my heart.” The couple are paying a surrogate to give them a baby, which they plan to raise together. “I am in love with Phil and he’s in love with me,” said Carter. “I make no apologies.”

Scientists working for the Indian military are closely observing an 82-year-old Indian holy man who claims not to have consumed food or water in 70 years. Prahlad Jani claims he is nourished by a goddess who pours “elixir” into his body through a hole in his palate. After a week of constant observation, military doctors say that Jani has yet to eat or drink or defecate and is showing no signs of physical deterioration. “If his claims are verified, it will be a breakthrough in medical science,” said Dr. G. Ilavazhagan, of India’s Defense Institute of Physiology & Allied Sciences.
Thief disguises himself with toilet paper
Police in Nebraska are hunting a man who held up a convenience store with his head wrapped in toilet paper. The suspect, who held a knife on store clerks while they emptied the cash register and the safe, has “blue eyes and a skinny face,” said police, who concede that their investigation would benefit from a more detailed description. “With that disguise, there isn’t much to go on,” said a police spokesman.
