Border Wars
This new nonfiction series follows officers from the U.S. Customs and Border Protection agency, who are based at one of the central battlegrounds in the war against drug smuggling and illegal immigration: the border of Nogales, Ariz., and Nogales, Mexico. In the first two episodes, airing back to back, agents discover a new tunnel beneath the border and intercept a record-breaking haul of heroin. Monday, Jan. 11, at 8 p.m., National Geographic Channel

In the mortuary temple of Hatshepsut—a female pharaoh who reigned over Egypt in the 15th century B.C.—there is a depiction of a royal sea voyage to a legendary land called Punt. Was there such a place, and were the ancient Egyptians capable of sailing to it? To find out, a team of archaeologists and builders constructs a vessel modeled on the one depicted in the carving, then launches it into the Red Sea. Southland
Dropped last year by NBC, this intelligent, gritty ensemble drama about the personal and professional lives of LAPD officers has found a new home on cable. TNT is re-airing the series from the beginning, starting with the seven episodes already broadcast on NBC, followed by six new ones beginning March 2. This week’s re-airing of the pilot episode, being shown without commercials, contains six minutes of footage not previously seen. Tuesday, Jan. 12, at 10 p.m., TNT
