These follow-ups to last year’s Black in America specials continue to examine issues facing African-Americans right now. In “Today’s Pioneers” (Wednesday), reporter and anchor Soledad O’Brien’s topics include a foundation dedicated to keeping black marriages together; an effort to help young ex-convicts adjust to life outside prison; and a female doctor fighting a breast cancer that disproportionately affects black women. “Tomorrow’s Leaders” (Thursday) studies a program seeking to foster top black business leaders; a demanding magnet school for black students; and Journey for Change, which gives inner-city teens the opportunity to do humanitarian work in Africa.
