Tanglewood

The Boston Symphony Orchestra’s summer season includes concerts by such guest stars as cellist Yo-Yo Ma and folk legend James Taylor. The weekend-long Tanglewood Jazz Festival starts Aug. 29.

Ravinia Festival
Highland Park, Ill., through Sept. 14
Besides the Chicago Symphony Orchestra’s usual performances, audiences can expect concerts by the Beaux Arts Trio, Barbara Cook, and Tony Bennett. A Prairie Home Companion will record live on July 5.

Caramoor Music Festival
Katonah, N.Y., through Aug. 3
The Orchestra of St. Luke’s anchors this year’s slate. Highlights include performances by the Emerson String Quartet and the John Pizzarelli Quartet, and a celebration of traditional American song.

Los Angeles Philharmonic
Hollywood, Calif., July 10–Sept. 4
As usual, the Los Angeles Philharmonic will make its summer home at the Hollywood Bowl. Star soloists will include violinist Joshua Bell and pianist Jean-Yves Thibaudet.

Vail International Dance Festival
Vail, Colo., July 27–Aug. 10
The Paul Taylor Dance Company and the Pacific Northwest Ballet kick off this festival’s second year under director Damian Woetzel. The nation’s most talked about new ballet company, Morphoses, will also appear.
