Gay sex for prisoners
The week's news at a glance.
Mexico City
A gay inmate of a Mexico City prison is now permitted conjugal visits by his partner, following a recommendation to Mexico City’s government from the National Human Rights Commission. The commission, which can make recommendations to civic authorities but not enforce them, acted after receiving a complaint from a man who said he was barred from visiting his gay companion in a Mexico City prison because of their sexuality. Prison authorities accepted the commission’s recommendation and permitted the visit, but the commission now wants the policy applied to all the city’s prisons.
