Copenhagen
More than 100 jolly, pot-bellied men gathered in Copenhagen this week at the annual World Santa Claus Congress. The event, which began more than 40 years ago as a gimmick at a Danish amusement park, now attracts professional and part-time Santas from across the globe. This year the Santas competed in speed trials of chimney-climbing and rapid gift distribution before splitting into groups to discuss “working conditions.” One Santa proposed asking the European Union to mandate wider chimneys in all 25 member countries.
