Hail to the prince
The week's news at a glance.
Monaco
Prince Albert II was crowned His Serene Highness of Monaco this week, three months after the death of his father, Rainier III. Albert, 47, is the only son of the film star Grace Kelly, who gave up her Hollywood career to marry Rainier and become Princess Grace. His family, the Grimaldis, have ruled the tiny principality since 1297, but Albert is the first bachelor to reign. He promised his subjects that he would marry soon. The prince already has at least one child, with a French ex-lover, but since the boy is illegitimate, he is not in line to the throne.
