Cheaper drugs

Chicago
Illinois Gov. Rod Blagojevich this week announced that he was creating an online program to help residents save up to 50 percent on prescription drugs by importing them from Canada, Britain, and Ireland. Four other states—Minnesota, New Hampshire, North Dakota, and Wisconsin—have already established Web sites linking to pharmacies in Canada. Blagojevich said he had to “aggressively expand” his program to include Europe because drug companies were cutting supplies to Canadian druggists who filled prescriptions for Americans. Bush administration officials said they were considering asking the courts to put a stop to the drug imports, because they were “illegal and unsafe.”
