Pyongyang, North Korea
North Korea is developing ballistic missiles capable of striking the U.S. mainland, Jane’s Defence Weekly reported last week. The respected British military affairs journal said that North Korea had been modifying decommissioned Soviet hardware to make land- and sea-based missiles that could carry nuclear warheads. Sea-based nuclear missiles launched from ships would be able to hit California. Jane’s reported that Russian scientists had helped the North Koreans with the designs, an allegation Russian officials called “absurd.”
